Project Waves 4 Water part 1

We were in the east coast of the Philippines the past few days and during the last day in town we stopped by a local elementary school to drop off a Waves 4 Water kit for the kids to share! Super stoked to give back to the community. Thank you to Roy Angara, Aliya surf camp crew, Coast Thru life crew and everyone that helped us to make this happen

Baler kids, Aliya surf camp crew and Zamora crew

Frame grab during filter demo and explanation

This is where they were drinking before. When it rains the water is pretty much not drinkable. Now they will have a supply of CLEAN DRINKING WATER. We will try to bring more filters on our next trip!

Carlita Special for Carla

Ah yes. Its time for a new for Carla! 9'2 x 22 7/8 x 2 7/8 Carlita Special. Thank God she does not go through 1 of these every month.

Your classic pintail noserider developed with Malibu stylist, Carla Rowland, created especially for the long, clean, peeling waves of First Point Malibu. This board has pinched 50/50 rails throughout and low entry rocker with just enough tail rocker to lock you in while maintaining the right speed and trim to get you through those tricky sections at the ‘Bu.

The past few years Ive built a couple of fin less boards that are different from each other. Ive continued my quest to find one that works better than the other.

ZS Waves 4 water Mission

OUR STORY

A few weeks ago, Ian and I decided to make the pilgrimage back to his homeland in the Philippines in hopes of discovering new career and quality of life opportunities. We decided that we wanted to make this adventure more than just another attempt to self-serve and self-promote, but actually do something that will make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Ironically, just days after booking our flight, Typhoon Nesat struck the tiny archipelago leaving much of Metro Manila and inner farmlands of Luzon flooded. Now, many people are left without many basic necessities, including CLEAN DRINKING WATER!!
That's where WAVES FOR WATER comes in.
Waves For Water (W4W) is a non-profit organization with a simple mission: to get clean water to every single person who needs it.
Through their "Clean Water Couriers", W4W has initiated a program that allows volunteers to successfully set up filtration systems to catastrophic stricken regions around the world.

THE IMPACT

What we are going to achieve is HUGE. One Community Use Filtration System can provide clean drinking water to 100 people per day. If maintained properly, the filters will last for many years. We have purchased TWO Community Use Filtration Systems, but with YOUR help we could purchase more systems and affect more lives!!

WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET

Our tickets have been booked; two community filters have been purchased ($50 ea). Hell or high water, we're headed to the Philippines!
That's where YOU come in!
Your contribution is a key component to making this whole mission a success. All donations will go directly to assisting Ian and I venture into the heart of these areas who are in desperate need for clean drinking water. If we can get close to our goal before our departure date, we will buy additional filtration systems.
WAIT - THERE'S MORE!!
We want to give something back for your support. So...
When you contribute:
  • A minimum of $10, you will be entered for a chance to win a 2 hour private surf session, equipment included, with professional surf coach, Carla Rowland (valued at $130).
  • A minimum of $20, you will be entered for a chance to win a 5'6" ZS Mini Simmons handshaped by Ian Zamora (valued at $650 USD).

Evolution of a Hipster

HAHA

Gold and silhouettes

Just like many, the late afternoon golden colors has stopped us in our tracks and we point our cameras the other way where its lighting up our subjects. I tend to point the other direction,  Ive always like silhouette photos....
